Importance of Social Media

In Social Media, Technology on March 23, 2015 at 11:56 am

I’m back from Spring Break. Can’t believe how restful I am without using the technology.

Here is a great post from great blogger Lisa Nielsen and I agreed with her below:

T&L Advisor Guest post by Lisa Nielsen: If we want to run for office, run a business, or change how things are run where we work, live, or play we must be savvy in the use of social media. It is crucial for college, career, and life success. It can also save time at work for teachers. We need to be smart about ensuring we are preparing students to be well-Googled by the time they graduate high school. We must support them in creating an online presence that will lead help them get into that school, land that job, and attract the right people into their worlds for powerful global connections. Test scores and certifications worked well in the 20th century and are still used by some today, but in the 21st century, it is your online reputation that allows you to show what you know. Being digitally literate and having social media savvy is what is needed to help students to connect with others who share their passions, talents, and interests. This requires understanding how social media works and how to find the right people to connect with safely and responsibly. What do you think? Could some of these ideas be put into place where you work? Are there challenges or concerns that might get in the way? Share your comments on here.

Apple Overhauling iPad in Education Program to Simplify Sharing Devices and Apps

Apple will be making significant changes to iPad deployment for education during the upcoming school year that should eliminate some of the hurdles that school districts face when adopting iPads for use in the classroom. In an email obtained by MacRumors, the company outlines plans to make app distribution easier by eliminating the need for an Apple ID to load apps, tweaking the Apple ID for Students program and unifying several deployment programs into one. For more information, please click below:

I believe this is something will benefit the majority of K-12 district-wide.
