In Newsletter, Technology, Website on December 17, 2013 at 2:01 pm

This is a great offer during the Winter Break…. Thanks to TCEA and myON.

TCEA and myON are partnering to bring an exciting opportunity that will allow your students and even your own children to access over 4,000 engaging digital books on computers, tablets, and other devices, wherever they are over the holiday break – free of charge.

Through this special holiday offer, students will be able to choose from a collection of thousands of high-interest digital books from myON, a business unit of Capstone – the leading publisher of school library texts —  in a variety of genres and formats. Readers of all levels will be able to enjoy these digital books independently or they may activate naturally-recorded audio and text highlighting to support their reading. An embedded dictionary provides help with pronunciation and definitions for words they may not know. Free mobile apps enable your students to download books on their mobile devices for offline reading, as well.

Teachers and Parents –

If you would like to find something to make your student/kid excite for the holiday, there is a Santa Tracker available on the web to locate where Santa is.

NORAD – TRACKS SANTA

Actually, it won’t happen until on Christmas day. But, that is something for parent and kid to check out wondering where Santa is. Also, there is a very good games on the site which help your kid to develop a good motor skills. It also has a free Holiday Music you can listen to. The cool thing that it comes with “The Library” which explain the history about Santa, Santa’s Sleigh, and Holiday Traditions From Around the World. Lastly, It has NORAD HQ which explains how they track Secret Santa and why/how they track Santa.

Check it out and see if you think it will be useful for your class and to share with parents.

Enjoy!

Let’s Make Books….

In Technology, Website on December 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm

Today, a teacher asked me if there is a template that can be made by making a kid foldable kid book for their 2nd grader class. I recalled several years ago which I helped a teacher to find a best site to make a book. I searched through and found the site below:

Let’s Make Books

This is a free site by Vicki Blackwell and it is a really great site and very user-friendly site to browse through. Give yourself a try to see if this will help your student to make a book of their own.

Please leave a feedback if you feel the site benefit your class.

Enjoy,

Donny 🙂
