JING similar to Snipping Tool

In Software on June 29, 2012 at 2:19 pm

Software of the day: JING

I read a blog from the classmate who found this to be a valuable resource for the blog site. It works similar to Snipping Tool that is included with Windows 7. However, Jing is superior in capturing any image on the computer screen and creates screencast videos. It also allow you to crop and downsized to include the information you need. It allows you to create picture captions, highlight, etc. to follow instructions for the viewers.

Jing is a must for all on-line students and can be downloaded free of charge at this link:

See what others are saying about Jing and how easy it is to use at:

Check it out and see if this will benefit for your classroom.

TeacherTube similar to YouTube

In Website on June 28, 2012 at 1:30 pm

I checked the TeacherTube site and it was very informative. I believe this site is safer to access than YouTube. Most school district do not block TeacherTube. Unlike YouTube which is being blocked by most K-12 district, it has lot of educational video clip. I encourage you to check it out and leave comment if you can.

In Newsletter on June 28, 2012 at 11:40 am

I recall what my education was like 25 years ago. We were not surrounded by technology. I wonder what it will be like without the technology we have now.

We’re surrounded by technology in our everyday lives. We use computers for everything from playing games to checking the weather. Even the smartphones in our pockets have an incredible amount of computing power. With the flood of tablets into the market, it’s safe to say that everyone is well connected at this point.

Please check out the article below and see if this is something you use to benefit your education:

Free GIMP software

In Software, Technology on June 27, 2012 at 1:00 pm

The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free piece of software available for Windows, Mac and Linux Operating systems for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. If you don’t want to pay for Photoshop, it is a viable alternative. It is similiar to Snipping Tool but better. Check out the URL link:
